SGA 201: Measuring Sustainability Outcomes

Once you have developed your sustainability strategic plan and have begun piloting some of your first projects, you need to begin choosing the meaningful metrics that indicate the difference between your benchmark data and your intervention data. The comparison of these metrics will help you determine the value of your projects and rollout potential. Delivered in-person to a group of 6 – 15 participants, this workshop provides an insightful view of how to select the critical metrics needed to be measured related to the triple bottom-line outcomes of environmental stewardship, social equity, and profits. The workshop content is intended for any size company, sector, and leadership capacity and requires completion of SGA 101 and 102 unless the organization has been pre-approved by SMI as sufficiently prepared. Takeaways from the workshop include more clarity on how to select the best metrics to meet your organization’s sustainability goals, examples for developing a data collection process, and a realistic process for comparing benchmarking and new project data. Outside work prior to the workshop is required from participants. The 3-hour workshop includes a 1-hour introduction of content and 2 hours of hands-on activities with worksheets provided by the SMI consultant.
